Subject: Re: Hiking Related Science Project?

if you're looking into weight vs/ efficiency for calories burned (which sounds
very difficult due to variables: type of terrain, individual body types) try
looking into efficiency for time, nutrition and safety. just because you
lower the weight on your back, there is a certain threshold where your mph
will not raise enough to counter balance the trade off. but this is more of
an economics model than a science fair project. go with the stoves!
there are usually some pretty decnet stove contests at various hikng
conferences as well as a wealth of info on the net. try altitude, feul type,
stove material and total system weight etc. -some stoves may be better for
shorter hikes and soem may be better for longer.
