Keeping sleeping bags dry

What do you do to keep your sleeping bag dry if you just stuff it into your
backpack?

I've been stuffing bags straight into packs for about 35 years. I've not
snagged one yet. The stakes ride in a sil pouch in an outside
pocket....with the TP. The only metal in my pack is the Ti teapot with
the stove inside. There just isn't anything in there to snag it.
