Re: ID Primaloft liner bag on sale: msg#00082culture.backpacking.light
Want to extend my Horsethief bag down to near zero degrees this winter, so just got the Integral Designs Primaloft insulated liner bag from backcountry gear. http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/accessdetail.cfm?PRODUCTS__PRODUCTID=IN 4010 This bag is black nylon, made in Canada. (The unhelpful pic is blue, descrip is grey.) Listing says the outer shell is "silicone impregnated" but I found it is somewhat breathable, I guess a form of DWR. It is not the airtight silnylon that the stuff sack is made of. The inner shell is uncoated tight weave nylon. There's a short zipper on the left, which turns out to be ideal for using this liner with the shoulders and arms outside. Weight is 21 ounces, regular length. The hood and neck have drawstrings through a single pinch-lock. Still need a separate hood for very cold. I'm impressed, very well made. I'll replace the metal zip pulls with cord, is all. Not as light as down, of course, but I'll be using this on shorter snowshoe photo trips where the extra ounces won't matter much. Allows me to test out the liner idea for a cheap price. (Through Sept.9) I was skeptical, but it should be a fine warm weather bag where there's no chance of a snap freezing storm, without being too hot. And check out the price of the WM Megalite! Amazing. Too bad it's purple, and I got the Horsethief already. Best, Todd in Tarzana. |
