Hi Bill,

A cagoule usually is worn just like an Anorak, it has a storm skirt
that unties or unsnaps and folds down to become knee length in bad
weatherr, or in an unplanned survival situation.

When the storm skirt is snapped up the length of the garment is about
mid thigh, just like most mountaineering parkas. I don't see why a
second storm skirt could be incorporated, making the cagoule quite
long, and usable as a sleeping bag liner, although this would be
somewhat radical.

Usually the Cagoule is used in a bivouac as an unplanned emergency
shelter, and it is basically a shelter that you wear. For
mountaineering, where these garments used to be popular, it's also
important that they not be too very long so that you don't step on
the storm skirt with crampons, which could cause a loss of footing
with unpleasant results. :^) Best, Don L.
