While I don't 100% agree with Ray on all topics, I think
it is important to critic someone based on what they say.
I don't think you are doing this.

If you read Beyond Backpacking, or any number of
Ray's other writing, he clearly indicates he doesn't
expect that you can go *faster*... but that you will be
able to go *longer*... and that longer means that you
will go farther in a day.
