You know, you're right -- it could be cumbersome, especially around camp. I hadn't thought of that. They often have a drawstring at the bottom, so you can tuck your legs inside and close the bottom to make an emergency bivouac bag if you get caught out overnight on a day hike. So I might put a drawstring in mine. (The plans might actually call for that. Can't remember for sure.) That way, I could fold the bottom under and pull it up to my waist and fasten it around my waist with the drawstring. This also is a possibility, but it would require a very long separating zipper, which might be hard to find. Another option would be to use Velcro instead of a zipper. But I think I'll try the drawstring idea because it will quite a bit easier to sew.
