Survival/first aid kits

Hi there,
 
I'm new to the lightweight back packing thing and was curious if anyone could 
give me some advice on a good list for a survival pack and first aid kit that 
would be lightweight but do the trick. I usually go out for about 3 days (for 
now) and in not so remote areas - within a couple miles of civilization for the 
most part.
