Subject: Re: Longer testing WAS: Lite as a Feather....

George,

I wouldn't worry about it. First off, a 20 F bag isn't really a
winter bag, esp if its down. That rating doesn't take into account
so many factors that the rating just doesn't mean much.

I would say that if you reach dewpoint temps, you're good to test
this bag - the dampness in the air may make it FEEL cold enough at 45
F that you'll be shivering in the 30 F bag, wishing you were testing
the 20 F bag.

Due to condensation issues, I've found that bags have difficulty
keeping me warm while the same bags, in nice, dry, subfreezing
conditions can be acceptable.

I guess that what I'm saying is that to adequetly test a 20 F
sleeping bag temps do not have to make it down to 20 F.

>From a testing perspective, the question becomes "will local
conditions be such that a 20 F bag is warranted." You, as a tester,
simply need to use the 20 F bag in these conditions, and make sure to
notate them well in your reports, in addition to the product's
performance.

What do you all think?
