Hi Art,

This is the first post I read when I came online yesterday and I intended to 
respond after reading all the stuff and then forgot.

Most of what I have to say I have said many times before, so long time readers 
can probably skip this.

The care providers are refusing to use FC because of the professional 
organizations position papers, particularly the American Pediatric 
Association's 
which was the most adamant against FC.  All the others were more in line with 
the American Psychological Association's report which was more reasonable 
and left room for using it.  The pediatric folks are first in line due to the 
nature of 
the work so everyone would tend to use them as the last word.

We should first mount an advocacy to pressure the pediatrics if we want to give 
care providers more of a green light on FC.  Their position paper should be 
more in line with APA's.  The same warnings given by the APA could be 
applied to most any autism intervention, so we should also pressure them to 
put out the same kind of position papers for all other autism interventions, 
especially ABA which is the most widely used and abusive of the autism 
interventions.

Much of this is politics also.  FC was hooked up with the marxist feminists who 
have consistently used encouraging abuse allegations to further their own 
agenda.  Many of the rank and file would deny this and I suspect most aren't 
aware of it,  but I and many others know how the leaders operate and it's well 
documented in marxist feminist writings.  Folks are now wise to them and most 
any intervention associated with them, good or bad, would tend to be dissed or 
ignored.  This is why the FC community is split and we have Tito and Dove's 
mom where they are (on the Right).  There's no bringing the two groups 
together.  Making a new group in the middle might be wise thereby siphoning 
off folks from the Syracuse group and leaving the leaders behind who are 
obviously marxist feminists.  Let's face it, the handling of the sexual 
allegations, 
which was the real reason FC got whacked, was the Syracuse groups 
responsibility.  Or we could talk to Tito and Dove's mom and see if we can 
convince them to spruce up their act somewhat and find common ground.  
Those suckers have bales of money too.  Maybe you should do that instead of 
me because I might call them "suckers" <smile>

As for the intervention itself and how it should be structured and promoted, 
that's not the main issue as to why FC is not being used.  The pediatritions 
have to be dealt with first.  There is an opening maybe with adult residential, 
where I did my FC project.  Most are run by ICF regs and psych's as opposed 
to pediatricians.  Most advocates focus on the younger clients because that's 
where the active parents are and the most money.  The problem is that the few 
parents who advocate in this area are truly clueless and wouldn't know where 
to start if they thought it was a good idea.

Talking to Nancy Weiss of TASH would actually be the best place to start.  I'll 
send her an email and see what she say and get back to you.
