I too noticed slight differences in my color perception between my right and
left eyes years back, particularly when looking at 35mm slides through a loupe
held up to each eye. A bit frustrating at the time, as I was a scanner
operator trying to make fine adjustment to match the original, but could get
contrary "opinions" from either eye (not too mention that the brand of loupe
actually made a difference as well). I brought this up with coworkers and most
people I worked with had similar disparities between eyes..

I actually think this is very common as the macula of one eye could be
slightly denser than the other, or one macula slightly "yellower" in
pigmentation than the other.

For this reason, I still recommend that samples be swapped from right to left
and back again when viewing two hard copy samples side by side. It can make a
difference.

More profound is that if there exists differences in macular
density/pigmentation between the eyes in our head, the differences between
people must be greater.
