Color Managerment - Workflow

Hi Folks,
I'd like to know about the best methods to receive an image, in your
opinion.

Sometimes I've received images in RGB and CMYK, some cases with embedded
profile and without it. Sometimes with euroscale profile, sometimes with
SWOP.

How can I input this image in my workflow system? How can I use my icc
profiles?
