Another, and IMHO better, option might be something like this:
http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/ which lets you do wysiwyg
editing right in the page.

or, what about possibly employing some kind of ultra simple markup, like
that used on WikiWiki sites?

Trying to convert word files into nice HTML isnt going to be easy, I think.
You'll either get a huge jumbled mess of HTML code and style sheets to
exactly duplicate the look; or something much simplied but doesnt look
exactly the same which will likely confuse and anoy the user who expects it
to work and look exactly the same...
