Clearing a field

I'm adding update support to POGI (PHP OpenGroupware Interface).  Update
is working well, except for when a field is cleared.  If a fields (say
keywords) has a value, the value can be edited and when the document is
submitted back to the server the value is changed.  But if the field is
set to blank updating has no effect, removing the key from the struct
doesn't work either.
