So the arguments for the XML-RPC function "account.setPassword" are:
1. login:    "root" (this must be root currently)
2. password: <your new password>
3. crypted:  false

I guess that the "hot_iron.setPassword" method passes in invalid values.

BTW: you can track XML-RPC traffic on the server side by starting  
ogo-xmlrpcd-51 with "-WOHttpAdaptor_LogStream YES".
