Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

This means that no authentication data was provided.

- the answer "kohocton.morrison.iserv.net" is correct, but what is the
other message?

See above.

In ogo.log I see -
192.168.1.20 - - [28/Jan/2004:02:53:48 GMT] "POST /RPC2 HTTP/1.0" 401 0
0.003 - - 0
Jan 28 02:53:52 xmlrpcd [22807]: <>DirectAction>>D decoded XMLRPC call:
<0x08309CAC[XmlRpcMethodCall]: method=system.getHostName #paras=0>
192.168.1.20 - - [28/Jan/2004:02:53:52 GMT] "POST /RPC2 HTTP/1.0" 200
145 0.018 - - 0
- why the 401 error before the successful 200 event?

Read the HTTP spec ;-) The 401 means 'authentication required' - if the server returns this, the client will retry with proper credentials. You can skip the 401 step by using PreAuthenticate=true in C#/.NET.

I'm trying to write an C# assembly for accessing OGo, but these 'odd'
responses are driving me nuts.

Nothing odd about that.

Helge
