Managing Engineering Content with Documentum: msg#00144cms.documentum.user
McLaren's Enterprise Engineer applications allow our customers to efficiently manage their engineering drawings and documents, as well as the processes that control them. Our off-the-shelf applications enforce controls around the proper access to these drawings and documents (versions, renditions, watermarks, audit-history etc), and the process behind how they are created, reviewed, updated, and distributed. The resulting system makes it far easier for engineers and other staff to locate, use, and reuse important information. These applications can also automate both the outgoing and incoming transmittals of drawings and documents with contractors and AEs, creating a very detailed audit trail of exactly what was sent to who and when, as well as tracking acknowledgement of receipt. In addition, powerful searching capabilities insure that any document, drawing, or transmittal can be quickly and easily located by all users. Though this is just a brief overview, the bottom line is that we make the creation, use, re-use, and distribution of engineering drawings and documents far more efficient, while also significantly reducing the risk associated with the design, construction, and operation of assets. Keep in mind that by going with an application as opposed to using consulting to write customizations, you not only can accelerate the project and reduce the cost of the initial deployment, but you will have an application that is upgradeable with the platform, not to mention that it is constantly being enhanced and extended as new innovations are made. In addition, our applications incorporate extensive best practices that have evolved in our nearly 10 years of working with the management of engineering content on the Documentum platform. Please visit our website to download a White Paper that covers a fair amount of detail on how Enterprise Engineer works, as well as the value proposition behind taking an application-oriented approach to managing engineering content in the ECM environment. Please let me know if you have any questions.
