Averill,

Check the script where the ">" is appearing. I'll bet it's the last
(though perfectly proper) character in your script, and that it's not
colored brown as it should be, but is black.

This is a queer bug I've seen before...

Workaround: add a carriage return after your ">". It should turn brown,
and voila, the ">" is gone in the HTML!

Go figure...
