Cit livecd: msg#00015
cms.citadel.devel
For people who don't want to mess with configuring a Linux system, but
want to run Cit/UX, I took it upon myself (since I've had two people
express interest in such) to get a livecd pre-installed Linux/Citadel
system going.
A .iso file for version 1.0 of this exists, but that was an extremely
customized version and not generically applicable. Version 2.0
(or maybe I should call this one 1.1 since the changes aren't all that
major) is simply a generalized modification to that.
The Linux underpinnings are something of a hybrid, I've taken chunks I
think work best for this from a range of distros. It uses .rpms
for package install, with Synaptic for the frontend. I'd like to
shift to Smart as it seems to have better features, but that's going to
take a bit of work to switch.
Should have the new .iso out by morning, minus the stuff I put into 1.0
specifically for what Harry said he wanted back in August and have
something anyone can toss into a CD-ROM drive, boot and on a single
click have a working Cit system. Of course they'll need to name
their installation and create any local rooms, that sort of thing, but
it'll create a basic working groupware/bbs install.
