Job Arrays: msg#00114

Subject: Job Arrays
There is actually a new tool on the market, Grid Optimizer, that enables Torque users to use job arrays  (http://www.exludus.com/download.php - free 30 days evaluation).  We've just released it on the web last week for Torque / Linux users.

This not only provides users with job arrays, but also allows them to use OpenMP-like syntax to distribute evenly workload among nodes.  Also Grid Optimizer optimizes processing efficiency using a sophisticated real-time scheduling algorithm.

Combining Torque & Grid Optimizer usually gives better performance than using LSF, PBS Pro and SGE.

In the past, there was discussion regarding the inclusion of Job Arrays
in Torque.  That discussion seems to have died down.  Can someone
provide a current status regarding the progress of this feature into
Torque and at what point in time and/or release we might be seeing it?
As this is a feature included in SGE (used at some of our sites) and one
of the main issues preventing our company from actually standardizing
upon Torque as a Resource Management package globally, it is an
important issue for us to resolve.
