Re: editing gnome menu: msg#01439

Subject: Re: editing gnome menu
Yes, I am looing to remove, or add entries. Your suggestion does not seem to work in CentOS 4, or FC 2 or 3.

In some distros (gentoo/vidalinux), all that is required is to open nautilus, go to applications:/// and make changes to folders. Others require a GUI tool (mandrake does this - yes mandrake can use gnome :-)

I'm out of ideas- its very frustrating to have icons everywhere since I can not make changes to the application menu.

Any help is appreciated!

Ryan,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by ``editing'', but if you mean
``adding'' and ``removing'' entries, I found ``Editing GNOME2
Menus in Red Hat Linux 8.0 and 9'', at

   <http://www.bluethingy.com/linux/rh8menu.html>

to be pretty helpful in understanding how this stuff works. It
seems like the information in that article applies to CentOS 3
(and, presumably, also to CentOS 4). (Yes, I happened to be
tinkering with the menu stuff when I saw your message.)
