you can have dongles with a range between 10 and 100m.

The HCI 16.4 firmware exists for BlueCore01b and BlueCore02. All CSR
chips have SCO support, but on some of them the SCO data is not routed
over HCI. They send it through the internal PCM device and this is
useless in a USB dongle.
