I have talked to Mitsumi and they don't support updating the dongles.
But maybe you should also ask them. Some other companies like MSI and
TDK have programs for Windows, which can update the firmware. If you got
such a firmware file you can also write a firmware upgrade utility for
Linux, but as Carl said, you need the firmware from the dongle vendor.
