Subject: [Bacula-users] File is marked correctly backuped
although errors occour while Backup

Hello all,

on one full backup run on a win 2k3 Server with MSSQL with 5.0.2-fd some
Errors occured.

The log for the job says:

(The backup is done intentionally without VSS. The english equivalent of the
windows error message is: "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the
requested service.")

The errors seem to happen because our old backup programm (we're still
evaluating Bacula) was touching the files while Bacula was reading them, so the
errors themselves are not the problem.

The problem is, when browsing the catalog, these files seem to be backuped
propperly, but the hashes differ from earlier backups although the Files
weren't touched in the meantime. When a restore on these files is done, then on
the first one I get an error:

26-Apr 17:24 reliant1-fd JobId 407: Error: attribs.c:423 File size of restored

/bacula-data/bacula-restores/D:/SQL_Backup/<removed>_20110109_kann2012weg/<removed>Historie_201011081516.trn
not correct. Original 10589404672, restored 7918845768.

A restore on the other two files work without problems but the restored files
have a size of 0.
Unfortunatly neither a following incremental job on this filset, nor a
differential did backup these files again, so there would be no valid backup of
these files until the next scheduled full, which would be in a month.

We looked at the source-code of the file-deamon and found just one location
where the pattern "Read error on file" occurs but couldn't find any obvious
fault and for a deeper search I am missing the programming experience.

So the question is, is this a bug or a wanted behaviour? Has anybody run into a
similar Problem? And mainly: Is there a way to get Bacula not to accept such
files as propperly backuped, so that they are backuped on the next incremental
or differential?

Thank you
