a few questions if you can spare a minute or two.

what framework did you use for the image synthesizer in SC3d?

All I did was write a little extra code to transform the signal into a picture, and a few extra unit generators. Otherwise all the same code was used for audio and image.

is that framework still embedded (as dead code) in SC3 somewhere?

There was no framework. The primitives and ugens were in SC3d5. You can probably find at least some of it there.

what literature did you read in order to develop the client / server architecture of SC3?

none to get the idea - it just evolved from what I was doing with OSC in SC2 and what I thought was wrong with the SC3d5 architecture and the best way to fix it.
Once I was implementing it I read man pages and browsed Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment at the Borders cafe.

is there any sort of UML diagram that illustrates how SC3 is wired?

No. I think pictures do a poor job of representing software. The best way to diagram a C/C++ program in my mind is to write the headers. And the good part of that is then you have got a start on the implementation.

i ask these questions in order to better understand what approach should be taken to develop the graphics engine known as phosphor.

thanks.
