Subject: plugin build path questions

hello there again

a quick question regarding the plugin tutorial, xcode and paths:

i've found that using the shell command recommended in the plugins tutorial ('cp build/MyUgen.scx build/plugins') to be unreliable -- it doesn't always actually copy the plugin into the plugins folder, which results in making a mod in your plugin you're debugging and then having it not take effect. it's weird - the modified date is updated but the creation date stays the same, whereas the plugin built in the plain ol' build folder is the real deal and has both the created and modified dates changed (and the code inside as well). for awhile i was having to manually drag the new plugin from the 'build' folder into the 'plugin' folder to get the plugin to copy correctly. but now i just go under info for the whole xcode project and instead of leaving "Place Build Products In" set to Default, i set it to /build/plugins.

so, my question is, is there a good reason why setting this path is not recommended in the plugin-writingTutorial but the additional build phase 'cp ...' command is? if so, i'm assuming that this is for CVS reasons... is that correct? also, is it for CVS reasons why all of the plugins from a fresh checkout are automatically included in the build folder? i'm wondering if it's alright to clear up all the clutter in my build folder...

alrighty. thanks for clueing me in.
adam
