Licensing question regarding WS-ReliableMessaging: msg#00061apache.webservices.general
Hello, We're trying to start a project to implement WS-ReliableMessaging and some folks have questioned whether Apache needs to get a license to do such an implementation. The proposal is at: http://nagoya.apache.org/wiki/apachewiki.cgi?ReliableMessagingProposal The specification we'd like to implement is: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/webservices/library/ws-rm/ The concerned IP statements are at the top of the specification. Additional information is that there was a workshop for implementors where multiple implementations were tested against each other for interoperability. More information is available at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/soapbuilders/message/9473 The implementors present were apparently not asked to sign a license to implement the spec. They were however asked to sign a license to provide feedback on the specification itself. Please advise on what we need to do to be "safe." Sanjiva. ----- Original Message ----- From: "robert burrell donkin" <rdonkin@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 3:22 AM Subject: Re: VOTE: WS-Fx and Sandesha proposals > (just my tuppenuth but) probably wouldn't hurt to check with licensing > at apache. > > - robert > > On 12 Nov 2003, at 13:20, Davanum Srinivas wrote: > > > There was an Interop for WS-RM > > (http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/3901) and AFAIK no one was asked > > to get a license for doing an implementation.
