Those errors are known to occur in VC 6, but do not occur in later  
versions of VC or any other compiler.  If I remember correctly, they  
are related to locale handling in VC 6. The message about  
"unknown.host.local" is just a diagnostic message and is not related  
to the test failures.  I guess those tests could be suppressed if the  
_MSC_VER_ is the value for vc 6 or earlier.
