Generally you don't need to - what is making this necessary for you?

FWIW I tend to work in Idea and have it compile the classes which has the side 
effect of handling dependencies as well as just modifications. I run a final 
build with Ant when looking to do a test run (which takes long enough for 
coffee anyway).
