New MT functionality for XSB: msg#00441

Subject: New MT functionality for XSB
Dear Bleeding-Edgers :-)

With the help of Paulo Moura, Rui Marques and I have made a number of
additions and changes to the MT engine, mostly to better support the
working ISO Multi-threading standard: this includes thread handling
predicates, message queues and user defined mutexes. Older code from
3.0 and 3.1 been made more robust, particularly the thread handling
predicates and the first draft of message queues; in addition new code
has been added for private message queues, thread_signaling (still
somewhat experimental), message peeking, queue destroying etc.

I've update the XSB home page to provide a pdf for the latest CVS
version of the manual (in addition to the version for 3.1) for anyone
who wants to look at, and may be brave enough to use, the current set of
features.

Terry
