I do not think this is a SWI-prolog specific issue.  Your C 
compiler/loader seems to be wrongly configured or installed.
Note that on my fedora system, I have a file /usr/lib/crt1.o which is 
part of the glibc-devel package. Please check if you have installed all 
developement packages you need.  Hope this helps,
