I'm not sure whether this is correct either (not an html expert). However,
as I wrote, the html I mention is not found in the wild, but is an actual
example from the manual. I think either the manual or the library should
be fixed. Nothing is as frustrating as code examples that simply don't work...

Fair enough. I thought emit was the way to go, as it's used by the
tools accessible from manpce (card viewer etc). There are other options
for rendering text, I guess.
