Well, you passed the first test with flying colours!

I generally recommend:

as a general guide. I think we're fairly forgiving of unskilful postings on 
this list and generally find it useful if people ask awkward questions, 
especially when we do have a good answer for it. Just be aware that everyone 
is giving of their free time, has busy schedules and may not know all the 
answers all the time and you'll probably get it right.

You can generally judge the quality of your questions by the quality of your 
responses. Apart from that, reading is good and Google is your friend[*] ;-)
