Hello,
Demudi is amazing. I've been getting into PD and
would like to learn out to setup machines for installations. I got it running on
a slow PC with a single drive and was thrilled and
then wanted to put it on an additional drive on my main (faster) PC without
changing the boot sector of my main (C) drive wich has XP and all sampling
and business stuff on it. I ran into the following problems.
This is what _I THOUGHT_ would happen: Statup from
bios pointed to demudi CD, tell it to format and install on addl.
drive, on reboot tell bios to boot from that new demudi drive, have
fun rock out with cool free new software.
These were my very boring adventures:
-Started to demudi cd, formatted and installed on
addl drive, on reboot DemudiI drive is now invisble in bios and to XP.
Bummer. Nothing sees demudi drive. Solution put demudi drive in firewire case
and reformat on mac.
I Tried this again with a different drive and no
luck.
TRY 2: Did the same thing with an old scsi
drive because my bios gave scsi device as a bootup option and I had an extra
scsi drive. Still no dice. I think the scsi boot option disappeared.
Also I noticed my drive light pulsing when my
systems bios was trying to read the demudi drive which continued afer I exited
bios setup.
I would be very happy to have a linux startup
floppy that would point my system to the demudi drive I really _realy_ don't
want to mess with the boot block of my main drive- as
I've seen people loose all their data and have to do re-installs tring
to get rid of grub and cannot take this
risk. Another option would be to put my C drive in a
removable bay but I'd still like to read stuff off it in linux.
I know very little about installing and running
linux. It seems like this should be easy and I am missing something very
basic.
Any tips or hints?
A step by step would be amazing.
Thanks so much.
