Doesn't agnula use a 2.6 kernel?  The linux1394 folks say that firewire 
isn't really stable yet under 2.6.  It's probably not a good idea to 
even try to use a firewire drive if you're using 2.6.

If you can do what you need with a 2.4 kernel, that would likely work 
better with your drive.
