That article is interesting, it's about 7 months old now so I'd hope
support for the chip is there in 10.10. Where would one go to buy one
of these? My google has nothing:
<http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Broadcom+Crystal+HD+70012#q=Broadcom+Crystal+HD+70012&hl=en&prmd=ivnsfd&source=lnms&tbs=shop:1&ei=c90gTYGHL43_ngen7fGdDg&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&ved=0CBAQ_AU&biw=1280&bih=911&fp=ca05a7bb65e82229>

Also, where'd you get that extended battery from? That sounds like
something everyone could stand to know more about.

-Benjamin

That is great news.  But I don't think most of us will be able to take advantage just yet.  We'll need to get a new video card (mini PCI-e) and do a lot of surgery, but the benefits are immense. http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell-mini-9-guides/21066-broadcom-crystal-hd-70012-dell-mini-9-a.html Or order a new netbook that comes with it.  http://en.community.dell.com/dell-blogs/Direct2Dell/b/direct2dell/archive/2010/02/25/the-mini-10-in-hd-now-available-with-broadcom_2700_s-crystal-hd-accelerator.aspx But it means that netbooks, tablets, and home theater PCs could have the hardware.  And I like that the ffmpeg, etc libraries are already including software support for it.  There is so much potential here, let's see what happens in a few more months. http://www.anandtech.com/show/2898 I hope they aren't teasing about video acceleration for Flash on linux.  That's huge.On Sun, Jan 2, 2011 at 8:05 AM, Gábor Molnár <gabor.molnar@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi!Mplayer and FFMpeg can finally use the Broadcom CrystalHD decoder chip to accelerate video playback!
