Putty - not the most exciting program in the world, but truly essential. Putty is a little tool to connect to a remote shell. When I need to use Windows, Putty is essential in being able to talk o a remote Linux or Mac machine. The makers of Putty also provide pscp; a Windows version of scp. I have used to this literally hundreds of times when out with clients and I need to grab a much needed file.

gnome-obex-server - I am unfortunately a bit trigger happy with a mobile phone camera. If I see something funny or a shocking example of usability, I tend to snap it and blog it. gnome-obex-server lets me easily get these fine examples of photography onto my desktop and in front of your eyeballs.

StreamTuner - working without music is a bit like going out on a date with Mr T, its possible but not all that much fun.

StreamTuner is a little GNOME application that provides a directory of online radio stations that you can listen too. When you are bored of your music collection, StreamTuner can hook you into anything from Christian Gangsta Rap (yes, it does exist) right up to Extreme Metal.
