i just upgraded to PHP 5.3.0 yesterday after having lived with version 4.4.2 for more than 3 years. the upgrade went surprisingly smoothly for someone who never likes to look under the hood. i noticed a few warnings about deprecated functions when i tried to run my existing applications, but the error messaging was so good that it was easy to locate the relevant code and swap it out for something more inline with 5.3.0 - so i guess i'm good to go for another few years :)
